March 26th, 2017 – Kim Cusack Quartet

Madison Jazz Society wraps up its Spring concert series with a trad jazz quartet led by clarinetist-saxophonist Kim Cusack.  Best known for his 40+ year tenure with the Original Salty Dogs Jazz Band and his association with James Dapogny’s Chicago Jazz Band, Mr. Cusack has played and recorded with Gene Mayl’s Dixieland Rhythm Kings, Turk Murphy, Wild Bill Davison and the Jan Garber Orchestra (where he was the featured tenor saxophonist).  Kim played with the Chicago Cubs Dixieland band and is “first call” clarinetist for jazz gigs all over the country.  For this concert, Kim will be joined by guitarist-banjoist Rob Curtis (from the Chicago Cubs band), pianist Patrick Donley (one of Chicago’s busiest and most promising young musicians), and Dan Anderson on tuba and string bass.  1:00 PM, The Breakwater, 6309 Metropolitan Place in Monona (off of Bridge Road, just north of Broadway).  Free admission for ages 18 & under.  http://www.madisonjazz.com/event/kim-cusack-is-back/.
