Directed by band teacher Steve Sveum, Sun Prairie High School’s top jazz ensemble (Jazz I) is one of 15 high school bands in the US that have been chosen as a finalist in the prestigious 2019 “Essentially Ellington” competition at New York’s Jazz at Lincoln Center.  This concert will help raise part of the $30,000 needed to send the band to New York for this competition.  This is the 13th time (!!) that Sun Prairie’s Jazz I has made it to the “Essentially Ellington” finals, and the 8th time in the past 9 years.

The finalists’ performances will be live-streamed at jazz.org/live on Friday, May 10th, between 2:00 & 6:00 PM CDT.
