Madison Choro Ensemble

Madison Choro Ensemble

Originally inspired from a trip to São Paulo Brazil, the Madison Choro Ensemble took on the task of learning choro, a style known for its difficulty that emerged out of 19th century classical music and morphed in response to 20th century jazz. The band adds its own modern spin on the form, and also performs a number of bossa nova classics. The group features a number of guest soloists and is composed of top tier Madison musicians known from other groups such as The Jimmys, Immigré, Samba Novistas, No Name String Band, Kikeh Mato, and Grupo Balança.
