Touring in support of his new album, “Nat ‘King’ Cole & Me,” celebrated vocalist Gregory Porter brings his glorious and adventurous baritone to Overture Center’s Capitol Theater. Winner of “Best Jazz Vocal Album” Grammys in 2014 and 2017, Porter was described in the New York Times as “a jazz singer of thrilling presence, a booming baritone with a gift for earthy refinement and soaring uplift.” Porter credits the legendary vocalist and pianist Nat Cole for igniting his love of music, and his Madison performance is sure to include his original takes on classic songs from Cole songbook (think “Nature Boy,” “Mona Lisa,” “Ballerina,” and “The Christmas Song”). Check out his version of Nat Cole’s hit song “L-O-V-E” from the new album, and the title track from his 2017 Grammy-winning album, “Take Me to the Alley.”
