Madison Music Collective opens its Winter-Spring “Jazz on a Sunday” season with jazz saxophonist, flutist and composer Greg Abate. A post hard bop soloist who tours the globe 225 days a year. Greg has performed at jazz festivals and clubs throughout the U.S., Canada, and abroad, including most of Europe, the UK, Moscow and Georgia Russia. His most recent recording, The Greg Abate Quintet, features the late great alto saxophonist Phil Woods. For his MMC gig, Greg will be accompanied by Madison’s Dave Stoler on piano and Nick Moran on bass, and Milwaukee’s Dave Bayles at the drums. Also, a student ensemble from the great jazz program at Sun Prairie High School, where Greg will be a clinician at the school’s 2/20 JazzFest, will perform an opening set.
